Following the success of one such program “Anandam” - a police wellbeing program, the Tamil Nadu State Home Department has now sanctioned “Project Magizhchi” in 2022, where we work with NIMHANS to set up a dedicated psychiatric counselling centre in Chennai for personnel in need.

Srishti, is the first project of Chellamuthu trust, started in the year 1992 at Melur, 13km from Madurai with the aim to create a home away from home for the rehabilitation of persons with mental illness. The center started with 2 residents, has over the years worked to create awareness on mental health in the local community and today serves around 60 residents.

- The Chellamuthu gardens was established in 2001, at the foothills of Alagarkoil as a hub for psychosocial rehabilitation.
- The 40-acre campus located near the famous Alagar temple, is set in an ecofriendly, natural environment providing a comfortable stay, enhancing cognitive functioning and overall mental health of our residents.
- Among the many amenities, the campus contains a functioning dairy farm, meditation hall, playground, training centers, school for special education and well appointed residentials quarters, kitchen and dining hall for the residents.
- There are currently 200 residents, and we aim to provide residential care for 500 persons in the near future.

Supportive services programs for families and caregivers
Speak2Us
SPEAK2Us is a suicide prevention helpline service provided by the trust with support of trained volunteers. Currently functions between 9am to 6pm everyday of the week. SPEAK2Us aims to create safe and supportive spaces to change conversations on depression, suicide and promote health.
Synergy
is a sibling’s network promoted by the Trust. It provides opportunity for siblings to share their anxieties, concerns, issues and to explore their role in the care of their sibling with mental disability.
Similarly siblings are given periodical training and some of those were identified for placement under supportive and competitive employment. They were also taken to such exposure visit to strengthen their capacities in their respective field.

a network of 350+ caregivers and people from various walks of life working towards better quality of life for the family of those with mental illness. This program is governed by the Family Fellowship Network, our trust's founder and executive chairman have been patrons of this program since 1999.

Legal Aid
A panel of lawyers meet every tuesday and thursday at our office in Madurai to provide free legal assistance to persons with mental disabilities and their families. This unit also works on organizing sensitisation programs for judges and law enforcement agencies.
